Empire Wake – Lake Lanier Islands Contest | 2013

If you are a wakeboarder right now pursuing a higher education, you’re a lucky cat. The collegiate wake scene is thriving and Lake Lanier went off today. We’ve attended the Lake Lanier Islands stop of the Empire Wake Series for nearly half a decade and have never seen such enthusiasm, skill, and support from riders & fans. Special thanks to Rob at Empire Wake, Marine Max, and Lake Lanier Islands.

West Side Riders | Switch 22

Some throwbacks are too good to wait. In this gem, Ronn Seidenglanz takes us back to 1995 when Colin Wright, Randall Harris, and Ricky Gonzalez ran the We$t coast. In fact this whole part in Sidewayz Film‘s flick Switch 22 was shot in Canyon Lake, CA. When this was released, Sublime was recording their infamous self titled album and Metallica hadn’t cut their hair. Where does the time go…?

A Day With CWB

Catalog shoots can be finicky. The entire team is flown out to a secret location for five days with a slue of photographers, four or five boats, and a video camera. The destination is usually picked for it’s photogenic value, not because it promises good conditions. This puts the teams at the complete mercy of the weather and as the CWB team found out, sometimes you only have 36 hours to shoot an entire catalog. It’s a good thing the CWB performs well under pressure because they nailed it. From Nicola to Palma to Andrew, they all killed it. Today, I’m holding the brochure in my hand. Cheers guys!

Parks Bonifay and Shawn Watson | My Side

To this day, BFY Production’s 2003 flick My Side is one of my favorite wake films. Maybe it’s the music, maybe it’s the line up, maybe it was the era – but for some reason this movie always resonated with me. It was my introduction to Ben Greenwood and Mike Ennen and a a lot of good underground West coast hiphop (thanks Kilgus). Take a second to travel back to an era when towable sliders were cutting edge and watch Parks Bonifay and Shawn Watson’s part in My Side.

“When this segment was filmed, both Parks and Shawn were on the true edge of progression. With towable sliders and unbelievable wake riding. My Side was a great success for us and turned out to be a great seller. I learned alot about editing and shooting new angles that year.
