Harley Clifford Wins PWT Stop #1

What a weekend!   In case you missed it, the first stop of the 2017 Pro Wake Tour was in Birmingham, Alabama and competitive wakeboarding is at an all-time high right now.  BuyWake.com team riders Harley Clifford and Mike Dowdy are total warriors battling against each other on the water this year.  One of the heaviest and hardest things to do after injury in get back to riding shape, and both Mike and Harley took no days off in the off-season rebuilding their bodies to peak performance.  If you follow them on Instagram you can see the insane tricks they have in their respective arsenals, and they’re bringing these tricks to the tour.  Congrats to Harley for winning the 1st stop of PWT, but with the way Mike is riding he is sure to take a win very soon (only 1.17 points separated them…so you know it’s coming). Valdosta Wake Compound – Yardsale

What a Weekend!

We just returned from arguably the best pro wake contest we’ve ever been to: the Slingshot sponsored event properly titled Yardsale held at Valdosta Wake Compound.

This invitation only event was run on a Sesitec System 2.0 course set up unlike anything we’ve ever seen!  With one day of practice and three full days of Best Line, Best Feature, and Best Trick, there was no lack of bangers.  Our close friend Jeff Mathis took some incredible images that we wanted to share.  Watch the video now!

2017 Valdosta Yard Sale

Valdosta Yard Sale

The Valdosta Yard Sale is a celebration of wakeboarding brought to you by Rockstar Energy Drink, Slingshot Wakeboards, Sesitec, BuyWake.com, and many more.  Located at the Valdosta Wake Compound in South Georgia, the Yard Sale will take place April 20th-23rd on VWC’s pro Sesitec System 2.0 course.  This event will be an invitational contest bringing together 35 of the world’s best park/urban riders for a long weekend of board shreddin’, live music, and, most importantly, GOOD VIBES.

In addition to the invites, there will be an open qualifier taking place on the full cable Thursday, April 20th in which ANYONE is welcome to register and compete for the chance to win 1 of 5 wildcard spots to join the crew under the System 2.0.  We will also be hosting a Pro Women’s contest (full cable best lap) on Friday, April 21st, because we LOVE the ladies, and feel that the more love for park riding we can put in one place, the better.  While we’re on that topic, the first stop of The Wakeskate Tour will also be going down under the exclusive wakeskate Sesitec System 2.0 course.  This is sure to be a weekend of EPIC proportions, so mark your calendars because YOU’RE INVITED.  That’s right, the Yard Sale/Wakeskate Tour will of course be open to the public and the full cable will be spinning every day for friends and family members to get wet and enjoy this one-of-a-kind 2017 season kickoff. 2016 WWA Nautique Wakeboard National Championships

You Win Some, You Lose Some

We had the pleasure of being on-site with our Ambush Board Co. family this past weekend for the Nautique Wakeboard Championships, and it was everything we knew it would be.  Our team riders Mike Dowdy and Massi Piffaretti both were on fire for Friday’s quarterfinals with a 90.33 and 90.00, respectively, so we knew Saturday was going to be lit.  The day of the finals was super rad – families, chicks, dogs, just about everyone was on the beach enjoying the hot summer day with equally hot action on the water.  One of the most legendary spots to watch the event is from the row of boats floating just outside the contest run, but you really need to wear your drinking helmet if you’re going to do that, because that crew likes to party.  Heading into semifinals we saw all our boys make it through plus some heavy runs by friends JD Webb and Noah Flegel, who are no strangers to the massive Nautique G23 wake.  Once it got to the finals the shoreline went ballistic for Massi as he was slaying his run – blind pete, heavy 9, the zero – but his last trick, the double flip, didn’t quite pan out for him this day.  Most the guys did some pretty solid riding, but the last rider off the dock was Mike Dowdy, and his focus and determination was at an all-time high.  Mike had a super solid run and on his second pass.  Unfortunately, he came up short on a mobe 5, or…should we say long.  See…once you are on your second pass there are 3/4 markings, and if you fall past those markings, you don’t get picked up.   The toughest part was that it appeared he fell right on the line, which would have allowed him (like other riders the day before) a shot at getting back up and finishing out two more tricks.  With a heavy hand down from the judges, Mike was deemed past the line and not allowed to complete his run.  Mike kept his composure (better then most people, I’m sure) and that meant there would be a new winner.  Australian Tony Iaconni took the top spot that day and earned his first win, and was followed by fellow Australian, Nic Rapa.  Good ole American boy and Nautique team rider, Noah Flegel, finished in third.
