2016 Hyperlite, Byerly, and Nautique! Oh, My!

Having Fun in the Sun with Nautique Boats

Last weekend we had the opportunity to go visit the Marine Max Buford location and meet up with our Nautique Boats family!  They were in town for a “Ride with the Pros” event then headed to the Nautique Wake Surf Nationals and guess what…they had a 2016 G23!  It was great catching up with Noah Flegel and Jimmy LaRiche, and our longtime friend and rep for Hyperlite/Byerly, Eddie Beverly.  Eddie, or “EBev,” as he is most known by, had a special treat for us to see with a quiver of 2016 Hyperlite and Byerly surfers.  We must say that these two brands knocked it out of the park this year.  Most notably Hyperlite has this insane new shape called “The Time Machine.”  Seriously, if you know anything about surfing this board is similar to the Tomo surfboards Vader series, but tweaked for wakesurfing.  If that weren’t enough, the Time Machine features a cork top for maximum grip, as well as all new Futures Fins!  The Byerly crew also have another banger with the 2016 Action, as it features Durashell construction with a EPS core and yes, Byerly Futures Fins!  You would be wise to add either one of these to your quiver. Ronix Review w/ Micah and Mertes

2015 Ronix Kinetik Project & El Von Videl Schnook Review!

Ronix Wakeboardsput a huge amount of research and development into their products and it shows.  Two of the best selling and most popular wakeboards in the 2015 lineup are the Kinetik Project and the El Von Videl Schnook.  We decided to send Ambush Board Co. and BuyWake.com employees Micah and Mertes to our local spot, Terminus Wake Park, for a little shred session and see how the two boards feel firsthand.  Don’t be fooled by the hilarious good times and all the high fives, these dudes are all business!  Watch the video below and read for yourself how they feel about the boards.

The Ronix 2015 Kinetik Project

“Brand new for 2015, the Ronix Kinetik Project is one of the best and most innovative cable boards I have ever ridden.  After a few laps around the park the first thing I noticed was how responsive and how alive the board felt under my feet.  The mixture of foam and wood makes the board super light, but also very durable.  The thing that stood out the most for me was how much pop that board has out of the water.  The two rocker lines make the board explode out of the water.  One of the coolest things is how responsive this board was on features.  The stored energy in the board makes it snap off  and on rails like a breeze. 2015 Atlanta Boat Show w/ Ambush Board Co. & Nautique Boats

There is no better cure for the winter blues than when the Boat Show comes to town!  This year’s boat show marks a long run of 15 years in a row for me.  It’s a great time to catch up with friends and meet new people associated with the water sports industry.  Ambush Board Co. and Nautique Boats set up in the Marine Max of Georgia booth and displayed an exemplary selection of boats from the 2015 lineup.

The G Series boats attracted a lot of attention and featured some outstanding new colorways this year.  Nautique stepped it up with two colors in particular – Orange Metal Flake & Purple Metal Flake.  The depth in the paint is astonishing in person!  All of the Nautique boats were filled with people exploring all the details of the interior and learning about the new Linc 2.0 Helm System.  Lines of people waited patiently for their turns to board the G21, G23, and G25.  Seeing the boats in person was such an amazing experience and it was unbelievable to see people stay on the boats for 15-30 minutes at a time. Keep It simple – Go Big

It’s a new year and not the ideal temperature for riding, but every year you should have a new wake goal.  Learn a new invert or add a 180 to a existing trick you have is the most common thing to do.  Well, this year it’s for the guy who hasn’t ridden in a while or takes 1 set every so often.  Slingshot has a new board this year called the Nomad and it’s here to revive the passion you once had wakeboarding.   The Nomad is about having fun and making wakeboarding easier.  This board is all about increased stability, strong pop, softer landings, cruising at slower speeds, and a much larger surface area.   It’s big.  It’s really big, but it’s really a simple idea, and a perfect one at that.  You don’t need a super aggressive board or your typical 142cm size anymore, you need a Nomad.  This board is built for larger riders or riders with bad knees who really want to get out and slash around and throw some lofty wake-to-wake jumps.  It comes in a 150, 155, and 160, and it’s guaranteed to make you have fun again on the water!
