Wake for Warriors – Strength Through Sharing and Shredding

Wake for Warriors is a non-profit organization founded in 2010 by Marine Corps veteran Dave Deep. After serving four deployments abroad, Dave experienced first hand what our brave men and women in uniform were dealing with and decided he was going to do something to help them. Dave is passionate about wakeboarding and wakesurfing and wanted to channel his love of watersports into a positive, healing experience for his fellow service members.

Does Pro Wakeboarding Have a Podium Problem?

Sports dynasties are nothing new. The New York Yankees ruled baseball from for over 4 decades. In the 44 seasons from 1921 to 1964, the Yankees appeared in 29 World Series and won 20 of them. The Boston Celtics won 8 consecutive NBA Championships from 1959-1966 and added 3 more championships in 1957, 1968, and 1969 respectively. The Montreal Canadiens owned the NHL from the 1950s through the 1970s. And, the NFL had the Steelers of the 1970’s, the 49ers of the 1980s, and the Patriots of the new millennium. Oh, and how could you forget Kelly Slater surfing his way to an unprecedented 11 world titles from 1994-2011 (even with a faux retirement thrown in the middle).  How does this relate to wakeboarding? Yardsale II at Valdosta Wake Compound

If you were at Yardsale last year at Valdosta Wake Compound then there was no way you would miss out on this year’s Yardsale II.  This year’s format consisted of a main event on the full size cable combined with a six group video contest all going down in a three-day time span.  Yardsale II did not disappoint!

Friday was a full day of qualifying for the main event with regional riders and international riders all gunning for the top spot to get into the main show.  Our homie Brock Baker from Texas put in DOWN in his run and barely missed out to Dary Znebel, proving his level of talent.  We can’t wait to see more of him this season.  By the end of the day everything was set for the main event, but we couldn’t call it a night without a killer party.  Trust us…the party was all time. In the Backwoods with Slingshot Rider Blake Bishop

In the world of wakeboarding Blake Bishop is pretty well known thanks to his backing from us and Slingshot with his videos like Untamed and other selections, but what’s he really like off the water now that he is now creeping into his twenties?

Sure, he may still rep that Gucci Gang and 1000 BPM music every now and then, but there is another side to Blake that most wouldn’t imagine; he at heart is a calm kid who enjoys just getting away from it all.  When you grow up traveling the world riding in contests and having you’re own personal cable park (#BTownCompound) what more would you want, right?  Without diving into details Blake’s family now owns a new home on a shit ton of acreage and there are future plans to build arguable one of the dopest cable parks on that land.  We’re very, very excited to see this come to fruition.
