Wakeboard Binding Closures: What’s the Best Option for You?

Laces vs. Velcro vs. Boa vs. Gummy Straps

What’s the most important part of your wakeboard set up you ask?  The bindings.

Wakeboard bindings have come a long way since the inception of our sport.  From sandal models to closed toe models and everything in between.  Along the way we’ve seen all kinds of closure systems and we wanted to break down what is going to be available for the 2018 season and help you choose the best style of binding for your riding needs!

This topic is highly subjective and based on personal preference, but keep an open mind to new things, as your next pair of bindings might be your favorite pair yet!

Here’s your tried and true option, just like momma’s peanut butter and jelly sandwich.  You know it’s good, you know you like it, you know it works! Read More >

The Eight.3 Wakesurf Shaper is HERE!

Things Are Shaping Up!

Okay, you and the crew just had an epic morning session and now the water bugs (tubers) are chopping the water up…time to take a break while the “Chop Monster” is in full effect or maybe pull out the surfers till things die down.

By this point, we all have most likely used ballast bags to help perfect our boat’s wake while we Wakeboard.  You position your ballast bags, buddies, pets, significant other (be careful when asking here…haha) around the boat to get the most out of your wake.  Ever wish you could do the same thing when you surfed?

For me, the biggest drawback of surfing was having to re-weight the boat…move things around…just to go 10-12mph.  Only hoping that everyone surfed on the same side of the boat too.  I’m Goofy Footed so I usually had to surf backside on the right wave.  You pick and choose your battles to save on riding time.  Well, Eight.3 came out with a product that is going to change the way you think about surfing. Lake Ronix Trip – Recap

Courtney Kobold won a trip of a lifetime to Lake Ronix and all she had to do was enter!! Remember that next time we are having a contest because you too can win! Can you imagine spending two days at this magical place? Courtney was kind enough to send us a thoughtful email recounting her time at Lake Ronix.

So, Lake Ronix. It was definitely an experience.

We landed in Orlando Friday night and decided we should probably go out and celebrate by getting Brett drunk and we definitely succeeded. The next day we were given a tour of Lake Ronix, which is an incredible property, and took a couple sets on the boat on two Ronix surfers. We followed the day up with a rowdy night out with a couple of the team riders who were an absolute blast. Never a dull moment with Justin Teich and Todd Watson that’s for sure. The next morning started out with personally delivered Pizza for breakfast from Parks. What a legend. During the day we hit up the front lake for a couple down and backs. Which was awesome. That night we chilled out by the fire and Todd told some pretty interesting ghost stories. The next morning we went on a killer paddle around the entire lake with Lily (Justin’s pup). We then hung around the lake and watched Massi and Jamie throw down before we headed back to the airport. Being able to ride at Lake Ronix was definitely one for the books and we cannot wait to go back. We couldn’t thank BuyWake and Ronix enough for the opportunity and for the incredible time. Also, a special shout to Brett for being our Dad for the weekend, wouldn’t have made it with out you pops! Happy shreds until next time! Read More >

Ronix Wakeboardsput a huge amount of research and development into their products and it shows.  Two of the best selling and most popular wakeboards in the 2015 lineup are the Kinetik Project and the El Von Videl Schnook.  We decided to send Ambush Board Co. and BuyWake.com employees Micah and Mertes to our local spot, Terminus Wake Park, for a little shred session and see how the two boards feel firsthand.  Don’t be fooled by the hilarious good times and all the high fives, these dudes are all business!  Watch the video below and read for yourself how they feel about the boards.

The Ronix 2015 Kinetik Project

“Brand new for 2015, the Ronix Kinetik Project is one of the best and most innovative cable boards I have ever ridden.  After a few laps around the park the first thing I noticed was how responsive and how alive the board felt under my feet.  The mixture of foam and wood makes the board super light, but also very durable.  The thing that stood out the most for me was how much pop that board has out of the water.  The two rocker lines make the board explode out of the water.  One of the coolest things is how responsive this board was on features.  The stored energy in the board makes it snap off  and on rails like a breeze.
