2016 WWA Nautique Wakeboard National Championships

You Win Some, You Lose Some

We had the pleasure of being on-site with our Ambush Board Co. family this past weekend for the Nautique Wakeboard Championships, and it was everything we knew it would be.  Our team riders Mike Dowdy and Massi Piffaretti both were on fire for Friday’s quarterfinals with a 90.33 and 90.00, respectively, so we knew Saturday was going to be lit.  The day of the finals was super rad – families, chicks, dogs, just about everyone was on the beach enjoying the hot summer day with equally hot action on the water.  One of the most legendary spots to watch the event is from the row of boats floating just outside the contest run, but you really need to wear your drinking helmet if you’re going to do that, because that crew likes to party.  Heading into semifinals we saw all our boys make it through plus some heavy runs by friends JD Webb and Noah Flegel, who are no strangers to the massive Nautique G23 wake.  Once it got to the finals the shoreline went ballistic for Massi as he was slaying his run – blind pete, heavy 9, the zero – but his last trick, the double flip, didn’t quite pan out for him this day.  Most the guys did some pretty solid riding, but the last rider off the dock was Mike Dowdy, and his focus and determination was at an all-time high.  Mike had a super solid run and on his second pass.  Unfortunately, he came up short on a mobe 5, or…should we say long.  See…once you are on your second pass there are 3/4 markings, and if you fall past those markings, you don’t get picked up.   The toughest part was that it appeared he fell right on the line, which would have allowed him (like other riders the day before) a shot at getting back up and finishing out two more tricks.  With a heavy hand down from the judges, Mike was deemed past the line and not allowed to complete his run.  Mike kept his composure (better then most people, I’m sure) and that meant there would be a new winner.  Australian Tony Iaconni took the top spot that day and earned his first win, and was followed by fellow Australian, Nic Rapa.  Good ole American boy and Nautique team rider, Noah Flegel, finished in third. FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Action Event Group, LLC Announces 2016 Amateur Georgia Wake Tour

Atlanta, Georgia (January 12, 2016) – Action Event Group, LLC announced today the inaugural season of the 2016 Georgia Wake
Series, a World Wakeboard Association sanctioned tour and state championship. The five stop tour will deliver events across the state
of Georgia, world class riding conditions and tow boats, a format for riders of all skill levels and disciplines, a stop at Atlanta’s premier
wake-park, and the largest collection of prizes ever seen in Georgia wakeboarding.
Home to one of the highest concentrations of wake-enthusiasts in the country, Georgia has long been in need of a refreshed amateur
wakeboard tour – a tour that acts as a natural step to Regional, National, and Professional events, and a tour that gives back to the
participants. With local and industry support, the Georgia Wake Series will fulfill these needs by providing an avenue for competition,
camaraderie, and fun for the many families who create the fabric of the wake community.
The Georgia Wake Series will debut on a private wakeboard lake in Rome, ensuring pristine conditions for all participants. Next, the
tour will make its way to the towers and turf of Terminus Wake Park, integrating the progressive segment of cable riding. The tour will
then travel south to the glassy waters of the Flint River for the largest grassroots charity tournament in the state, WakeFest GA. Lake
Lanier’s Rowing Venue routes the tour back north for the fourth stop. The Rowing Venue is no-wake with special access only to the
Georgia Wake Series. Georgia’s 2016 season concludes with the Georgia Wake Series State Championship, a two-day finale crowning
the winners of the season. And to the victors go the spoils.
For 2016, the Georgia Wake Series is carrying more than $10,000.00 in prizes alone from companies like Ambush Board Co,
WaterSports Central, Pull Watersports, GA Wakeboard Lessons, CWB, Oakley, Terminus Wake Park, and Hyperlite. If that’s not
enough, Liquid Force has a spot up for grabs on their regional team in 2017- offered to the most deserving rider in this year’s
series. Who knows. You didn’t know about us until now; there may be another trick or two up our sleeve. Either way, the Georgia Wake
Series is excited for 2016 and looks forward to having you, your family and your friends for a season of fun, family friendly events.

Inside The 2015 Wakeboard World Series

This year the WWA released a world series bigger than anything we have seen before.  Seriously, the locations and prize money are the best it has ever been.  We sat down with Corrie Wilson and she helped to answer some of our questions regarding the upcoming 2015 Wakeboard World Series.

2015 WBWS

BW:  So first things first – $425,000 is a ton of chedder.  How did you all manage to pull such funds?  “The 2015 Wakeboard World Series is unlike anything wake sports has seen in the past including the largest payout ever offered”

The WWA: We really wanted to raise the bar this year for the Wakeboard World Series. The WWA’s partners, both domestically and internationally, all share our vision for the future of wakeboarding. Everyone got together and really stepped up for this year’s Wakeboard World Series; we couldn’t be more excited. It wouldn’t be possible without great partners like Rockstar Energy Drink, Nautique, Malibu, Supra, and many others for being dedicated to the sport. Read More >
