In the past, “double” variations were not making headlines like they are today. Guys like Gerry Nunn and Daniel Watkins were doing double-backrolls in the 90’s but no one really put those tricks on a pedestal. In fact, there was a time in the early 2000’s when contest spectators hoped Parks would do something besides his trademark double-roll. Its true.
As time progressed and technology became more advanced, riders started shedding new light on double flip variations by making them look smoother. It all started with Chad Sharp’s toe-side indy double backroll a few years back. Since then athletes have added grabs, toe-side variations, and started taking them bigger. Currently riders like Chad Sharp, Jeff Langley, and Danny Harf are leading the journey into this uncharted land.
