Shredtown | “Pallets”

Remember when every rail was a foam filled PVC pipe? Scott Byerly‘s section in Twelve Honkeys immediately comes to mind. Enter Shredtown a decade later. This Texas crew made a name for themselves by dishing out creative displays of homegrown rail riding and well, people took notice. It seems these guys have made rails out of everything under the sun except PVC. Their new edit, appropriately titled “Pallets” continues this tradition and proves that a little creativity/ingenuity go a long way. Props to the guys at Shredtown for keeping it creative, refreshing, and most of all fun.

Gabe Lucas & Colin Gee | Hexacopter Footage

With recent advances in digital video technology, features like super-slow mo, waterproof housing, and HD clips are more accessible than ever. Formerly reserved for the elite, this technology is now in the hands of nearly every aspiring filmer and editor with a YouTube account. So what’s next?

Recently, coupled with advances in RC technology, filmers have entered a new frontier of capturing extreme angles and pans. Here’s an example of what we may be in store for over the next couple years on the web-edit front. All the footage captured here of Gabe Lucas and Colin Gee was shot in a single day. Daps and pounds all around.

The Best of 2012 | Web Edits

If you’re a regular user of the internet (I assume you are), you are well aware that anyone can make a wakeboarding video these days and upload it to the web. This past year we were bombarded with mini edits, parts, teasers, web series, product unveilings, contest videos, highlight reels, etc. There’s certainly no shortage of stoke, but has the art of producing quality wakeboard parts been lost in quantity? No! You just have to do a bit of digging to find the ones that shine. Fortunate enough for you, we’ve rounded up our top three and imbedded them below. Happy shredding.

“Cheers to Summer” Jimmy Lariche & Patrick Weiland

Jimmy teamed up with filmer Patrick Weiland for this edit. Loads of good riding, sharp editing, and scantily clad boat fluff. It looks like Jimmy had a fun summer. Read More >

“Raph” by Liquid Force

Raphael Derome for Von ZipperVideo has always played a huge roll in wakeboarding, but the model is constantly changing. In the past five years there has been a huge influx in online wakeboarding clips, parts, edits, reviews, etc. Anyone can do it. So, will we eventually lose interest in the art of wakeboard film making due to this over abundance? Judging from this Raph Derome part from Liquid Force, Justin Loiselle, and Jonathen Ferguson,  no, we wont.

This is perhaps our favorite “web edit” all year. The riding, filming, and creativity made us want to drop everything we were doing and go wakeboarding. This is exactly what a wakeboard film should do. Thank you for the inspiration, Raph.
